Support
Support relieves the immobilizing feelings of isolation
while giving the opportunity to not only associate within a
group, but also form meaningful and lasting friendships.
Sharing our own experiences can lead to increased self-esteem
and self-awareness. It keeps us focused on the here and now,
while moving us forward with our recovery.
Help us to continue helping others. Your tax-deductible
contributions enables NAMI Virginia Beach to continue to
provide:
1) Education:
a. Family Education Classes are fostered for Virginians across
the Commonwealth to help them understand what mental illness
is, what causes it, and how they can help their relatives
learn to their own illnesses.
b. Public Education and Community Outreach are offered by NAMI-Virginia
Beach speaking opportunities each year to area churches and
civic leagues. NAMI-Virginia Beach provides background and
commentary different news articles in publications such as:
the Virginian Pilot, the Daily Press, the Portfolio and other
local publications;
c. The Quarterly Newsletter and the website:
www.namivb.org.
2) Advocacy:
NAMI-Virginia Beach is widely acknowledged to be one of the
key voices advocating for people with mental illness in
Hampton Roads. Since the early 1970's, this Chapter has been
advocating for the rights of those with mental illnesses.
"United" and "Combined" are wonderful words. Each year, AMI
- Virginia Beach, through United Way, CFC, CCC, and CVC
receives contributions. We ask that you once again write
in AMI - Virginia Beach on your United Way pledge cards, or
use the code #6038. United behind your support and
combined with your energy, we will put an end to stigmas, and
provide support for those in need.
