Mental illnesses are biologically based brain disorders that cannot be overcome through “willpower” and are not related to a person’s character or intelligence. Mental illnesses strike people in the prime of their lives, often during adolescence and young adulthood. All ages are susceptible, young and old are especially vulnerable.
Early detection and treatment is vital.
Stigma erodes confidence.
It is time to take the barriers down and give those with mental illness a voice.
